JOSAA – 2016 (IIT JEE Counselling)

JointSeat Allocation Authority, which is also known as JoSAA, has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to conduct Joint Seat Allocation procedure for admission in academic programs offered by IITs, ISM, NITs, IIITs and other Govt. funded Technical Institutes within the country for the academic year 2016-17. The seat allocation is done for the candidates who have qualified JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Previously it was carried out by the CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) and JAB (Joint Admission Board respectively. From the last year, the admissions to the entire academic programmed offered by IITs, ISM, NITs, IIITs and other-GFTIs are being done by JoSAA through a single platform.

Eligibility Criteria for JoSAA 2016

To be eligible in participating in the Joint Seat Allocation procedure, a candidate must satisfy one or more of the following eligibility criteria.
To be eligible for IITs and ISM Dhanbad, a candidate must qualify JEE Advanced 2016 for academic programs other than preparatory courses offered at the IITs and ISM Dhanbad and also to meet the examination performance criteria of Class 12 (or equivalent exams); and
For preparatory courses offered by IITs and ISM Dhanbad, the candidate must qualify JEE Advanced 2016 and also satisfy the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination performance criteria.

For NITs, IIITs and GFTIs, the candidate must secure a rank in Paper-1 of JEE Main 2016  (B.E./B.Tech.) with atleast 45% marks (in aggregate) in Class 12 or its equivalent examination (40% in case of OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD category candidates).

The candidate must secure a rank in Paper-2 of JEE Main 2016 ((B.Arch./B. Planning) with atleast 45% marks (in aggregate) in Class 12 or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as a core subject.
